Here’s condolences to John Travolta and his family for the passing of his teenage son, Jett, on January 2 while on a holiday in their house in the Bahamas. The boy was said to have had seizure in the bathroom and hit his head in the bathtub. He was taken to the hospital and was declared dead by the Rand Memorial Hospital in the island resort. He had a history of having seizures but really life is not ours to keep as long as we want to.
It’s a sad start of the year for John Travolta, his wife Kelly Preston and their family and I wish them love and comfort especially in their time of bereavement.
I went out to grab some bargains today and all stores have those “Sale” posters trying to attract costumers. Some posters say up to 70% off but when you go inside you will find most items have only 20-30 % off and the ones that are supposed to be more than half reduced were actually the ones that nobody wants to buy.
One store was covered with stickers with the word “sale” from top to bottom and you can’t see anything through the window anymore.
In fairness I did find some bargains but I didn’t really need them so I didn’t bother buying them.
On my way back home, I passed by a bookstore with the best trick of all of them. It says, Everything Must Go. I got curious so I went to check what’s in store. When I got near I saw the small print saying, “Selected items only”. How can everything be selected items only?
I happened to be a very practical buyer and I only buy what I need. So these propagandas really don’t appeal to me much.
Why is there always a last cookie left on the plate but not a cake? I really find this amusing. I used to be very shy and too polite to take the last cookie but not anymore. I have seen many a cookie left on the plate by adults but children won’t leave a crumb.
I know this is a social or even cultural issue. In the Philippines, most people would be too shy to pick up the last cookie because of the thought that someone else might want it. But if that is true then it should have been gone by now. Why nobody picks it up right away? In other culture, it is just polite to offer it to anyone else and if the last person refused then you can have it.
Sometimes I feel like the last cookie. While the others have been picked up very quickly I remain on the plate longer until someone notices me. I don’t stand out from the crowd and I hate to be noticed if possible.
Well, this is another breaking news…opps..I should say shocking news. According to yahoo news posted on Monday, September 29, Andrew Lee, an aspiring chef died after eating a bowl of “super hot” chilli sauce. How sad! He must have had a really super bad reaction after the feat.
Accordingly Mr. Lee challenged his girlfriend’s brother who could eat the hottest dish. Then he felt itchiness all over his body and even asked his girlfriend to scratch his back so he could sleep. Sadly though, the next morning, Ms. Bailey, found her boyfriend dead. It must have been awful for her to find a dead body next to her and it was her boyfriend.
Chillis have good and bad effect on our diet. But everything should be taken in moderation. For a person whose diet is composed of chilli it could not be bad since his system is accustomed to it.
Well, I really feel sorry for the family and loved ones of Andrew Lee. Here’s my condolences for them.
A new sensation in the Philippines and in the US lately, Charice Pempengco has wowed the likes of Ophra, Ellen Degeneres and she was even invited by Celine Dion to have a duet with her only a week before her concert. Ellen Degeneres’ show found Charice on youtube and pulled her out from the box to give her the adulation and the exposure she most deserve.
I can already guess how far Charice will get with her talent. Her sad beginning is worth mentioning as well, how her dad tried to kill her mom in front of her when she was only 3 years old. According to rumors I gathered, she would always come in second during amateur singing contest. Well, I guess now Charice has proven who’s the real number one.
