I waited about 2 hours to see a doctor

It’s outrageous. I can’t believe I had to wait that long to see a doctor. Well, I didn’t call for an appointment but I was really shocked that I and other patients have to wait more than an hour.

It makes me think, “Are there more doctors in Thailand than here in the UK?” In Thailand, whatever your case just pop in at the reception area and they will ask you who you would like to see e.g. a skin doctor, an EENT, an orthopedic surgeon, etc. And then they will send you to the waiting area where you will see the type of doctor you need. You don’t have to wait for an hour. Thirty minutes is the longest waiting time.

But I’m not going to say that Thailand has a better hospital service. Like in the US, if you go to a hospital the next thing they will ask you is “Do you have an insurance? How are you gonna pay for your bill?”And Thai doctors always have to prescribe a medicine that you will purchase in the hospital’s pharmacy which charges about twice as much as the local drugstores. Sometimes they don’t put the name of the medicine in the bottle. They will just label it with your name and the dosage and a little bit of an description like for example, for red eye reliever.

And the great thing is, doctors speak English which is amazing. I just think it’s worth mentioning.Laughing
