Working harder than husband
Last week I took my husband to work with me in the winery. He is already on holiday and since he sends me to my work I asked if he wanted to work with me part-time. At first he was hesitant but then agreed to finally.
When we arrived there, he was surprised to find out that my job is actually heavier than his. He works in a microchip factory and there’s no need to carry heavy objects unlike in the winery. Sometimes we pack wines that are 1.5 Litre per bottle and doing that for the whole night is really strenuous. He was always complaining saying he’s had enough and doesn’t want to go back.
Yet I can’t give up that job although I’m not that strong. I have to hold on to it because of my visa status I can’t get an easier job like clerical or secretarial or teaching where I am trained and educated because they require my residence card.
It’s not that I’m working illegally. I am allowed to work in the UK but since my passport is still in the home office and my residence card application is still on process, some government establishments can’t employ me until I get them back.
Well, I think now my husband appreciates his work more than before because he knows some people work harder than him for the same pay or less.
