Christmas card blunder

I chatted with my friend Karoline in Seattle and she told me that she sent her husband a card on the post. I thought it was kinda cute so I told her I was gonna do the same.
Wednesday afternoon I went to a gift shop and carefully picked up the best Christmas card for my husband, scribbled what I thought was the best Christmas message for him then mailed it first class. On my way back home I was imagining how he would receive it in the mail and his smile and eventually him kissing me and say, “Thank you”.
The following day I got up to use the loo and saw the envelope on the table. Our lodger had seen it in the mailbox and placed it on the table. I tucked it under the other letters. When my good husband came to the kitchen I tried to act normally but was very anxious when he took the red envelop and opened it.
Guess what he did? He criticized my spending on a card and said that I could have just said it to him.
And then when he realized I posted it he critized it even more and said I could have just handed it to him. I was going to get mad at him by not appreciating what I did but guess what he found in the card? The price!
I forgot to remove it. So there, I cracked out loud by all the blunders caused by that stupid Christmas card.
