Remembering 9/11
It was hot as usual on this same day 7 years ago in Ubon Ratchatani. I finished my morning routine and went to the nearby computer shop. I wasn’t paying much attention when yahoo homepage opened up but for sure I saw a blown-up building. I logged in to my messenger and said Hello to an online friend in the US. Then he told me, “Did you see the news today?” Only then did I become aware of the tragedy.
That same day, my roommate who was an American went out to visit a Cambodian temple within Thailand territory. She didn’t come home until late at night. We were all so paranoid and worried about her. But she seemed so relax and unaffected. She said that she feels shielded everything similar things happen. What a faith!
Seven years have passed since the tragedy. The emotional scar is still visible in many people in America. I can still feel the eeriness in the air whenever this day comes every year. Many innocent people lost their lives. And the battle is still going on to fight for them. Ah, when will this ever end?
